Marble look · Sintered stone

A marble-look slab is a composition of background colour, broad movement and smaller veins. Its value in a room depends on what survives the cut. Compare the complete face with the visible shape of your island, panel or tabletop, rather than judging the design from an isolated corner.

Marble movement, planned across a complete slab

01

Position the main vein deliberately

Marble movement, planned across a complete slab
Illustrative texture; confirm the actual material against an approved sample.

Place openings and finished boundaries over the slab image. A strong diagonal can become a feature on a broad island but disappear on a narrow backsplash. Where an edge turns down, show the intended relationship between the horizontal and vertical pieces; visual continuity needs an agreed arrangement.

  • Identify the focal vein.
  • Mark the parts visible from the room entrance.

Choose contrast before choosing companions

White, warm and dark marble references create different relationships with cabinetry and metalwork. Review the base tone under the planned lighting. A quieter companion material can leave the principal slab legible instead of competing with it.

  • Compare the ground colour beside cabinetry.
  • Review any adjacent wall piece at the same scale.

Present alternatives without implying identical marble

When a buyer asks for an alternative to a marble reference, separate the qualities they want to retain: the background, the width of the veins, their colour and the overall level of contrast. Two designs may share a white ground but create very different compositions after cutting. A comparison sheet should give each design its own full-face image at a consistent scale, with the intended part shown separately. This lets the customer choose between distinct visual options rather than expecting one to reproduce another exactly. Keep the original inspiration alongside the proposed alternatives, clearly identified as a reference rather than the product being offered.

  • Compare background and vein scale as separate choices.
  • Identify the proposed model independently from the inspiration image.

Questions buyers ask

Will every cut piece show the strongest vein?

Not necessarily. Small parts may come from quieter areas of the face. Identify which feature should appear in each important finished piece before approving a cutting layout.

Is a marble-look slab automatically bookmatched?

No. Marble appearance and mirrored pair availability are separate choices. Ask for the exact face pair if symmetry is required.
